How do I get My older cat to adjust to 2 new kittens?

whiskers is 10 yrs old and cranky, He gets rather annoyed when my grandchild comes over and gets attention . He has come to the point of tolerating her. I 'm getting 2 kittens so they can play together and leave him be for a while. So how do I introduce the kittens to whiskers ? I did have another cat that died about 2 yrs ago they were together for 7 yrs. . He built up a tolerance to him too, but besides chasing they didn't play together.
