Are abya & scarf with designs/ colours/ sequins wrong?

i am new to islam and have read may different things with a variety of opinions on the subject, so least to say i am confused! it seems alot of people tell me that my abya and scarf should be plain with nothing on, but i see many sisters wearing ones with beautiful and colourful designs!
