How can science explain the immediate bond between a child and his biological parents?

My biological father had been estranged to me for many years and still remains to be. Yet, there was a time during my adolescent years he paid an untimely visit. I had all the reasons in the world to ask, "Who are you?", and "What do you want?" ,but I never did. I already knew who he was and I already knew what he wanted. He was my father and he wanted to see me. We spent a few moments in each other's presence and parted ways. The encounter was strange by no means ,but the contrary, something very familiar and vivid that would never be forgotten. Since that encounter, I haven't seen my father in over 10 years and counting. Can science explain that?
